Katy Naylor is the Head of Education and an experienced Orthoptist at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Educated in England, Katy graduated in Orthoptics from Sheffield University in 2004 before beginning her career at Moorfields Eye Hospital London. During her tenure there, she gained extensive experience in all areas of Orthoptic work, including specialist ocular motility, paediatrics, neuro-ophthalmology, adnexal, toxin, visual screening, primary care, accident and emergency, pediatric glaucoma, and genetic clinics.
In addition to her clinical work, Katy has played a pivotal role in education and training. In 2010, she obtained a PGCE specialising in medical education from UCL, London. As the Head of Education for Moorfields UAE, Katy is committed to advancing ophthalmic education and training in the region. Her dedication to professional development and clinical excellence continues to impact the next generation of eye care professionals significantly.
Katy’s professional journey is notable for her continuous pursuit of excellence and education. She also holds an MSc in Healthcare Management and Leadership, further enhancing her expertise and leadership skills.
Leah is an Orthoptist at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai in Dubai Healthcare City.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Orthoptics (with honours) from the University of Liverpool in 2014. She has also completed a Masters module in Education in 2019. Currently, she is pursuing an MBA through the University of Liverpool to advance her studies further.
With more than nine years of regional and international experience in Ocular Motility and Binocular Vision across various countries, including the UK and Ireland, Leah has worked in several renowned medical institutions, such as The Royal London Hospital, which is part of Barts Health NHS Trust.
Her other fields of interest are working with children and adults with special needs and learning difficulties. She was responsible for this specialist service in her previous position at the Royal London Hospital in the UK. She also worked closely with the neuro-ophthalmology team to develop an orthoptist-led clinic for patients with the neurological condition Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH).
Saynab is a dedicated Orthoptist at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, located in Dubai Healthcare City. With over four years of experience in ocular motility and binocular vision, she has worked with both children and adults in a variety of healthcare settings across the UK, amassing a wide range of clinical expertise.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Orthoptics (with Hons) from the University of Sheffield. Throughout her career, Saynab has worked in two large tertiary referral hospitals, where she gained significant experience treating patients from diverse backgrounds. She has a special interest in working with patients with learning difficulties and those on the autism spectrum, employing specialized techniques to meet their unique needs.
Saynab has independently run school screening initiatives, demonstrating her proactive approach to community health. She is passionate about teaching and is dedicated to improving operational systems within healthcare settings to enhance patient care and clinic efficiency. Saynab’s multifaceted expertise and commitment to excellence make her a valuable asset to the field of orthoptics.
Sehar is an experienced Orthoptist at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai in Dubai Healthcare City.
She has more than eight years’ experience in Ocular Motility and Binocular Vision, with advanced training and a special interest in Neuro-Ophthalmology. Sehar has worked in a variety of different healthcare settings across the UK; gaining her a wide range of clinical expertise.
During her previous posting at Leicester Royal Infirmary, England, Sehar’s extended role included a orthoptic lead, paediatric, cysts/chalazion clinic. Her other areas of interest include adult cataracts and biometry measurements.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Orthoptics from the University of Liverpool, 2011. She has also completed a Masters module in Neuro-Ophthalmology in 2020.
Danah obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Orthoptics from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom in 2021.
She has experience working with large Ophthalmology teams to include specialist Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, nurses and Opthalmic technicians.
Her previous experience included the investigation and management of Pediatric and Adult Orthoptic cases, amblyopia, ocular motility, and pre/post operative strabismus assessment. She regularly supervised and taught undergraduate Orthoptic students, and gained experience in assessing those with special educational needs.
Danah is invested in continued professional development and a patient centered approach, and has been involved in clinical audits for departmental improvement.
After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2013, Sonal spent over 5 years practicing Orthoptics at Ashford and St Peters Hospital in the UK. As the Lead Clinical tutor she taught and mentored undergraduate Orthoptic students and pre-registration Optometrists. As an extension to her role in the National Health Service she also assisted in treating patients with intravitreal injections.
Sonal moved to Abu Dhabi at the beginning of 2020 to join the Moorfields Eye Hospital, Strabismus and Paediatric Ophthalmology team.
Sonal has a keen interest in the investigation and management of complex ocular movement disorders and children with amblyopia and strabismus, she is an expert in working with children of all ages and learning abilities.
As a skilled practitioner, Sonal has worked in large teams of specialised Ophthalmologists, working in primary vision screening, paediatric and adult ocular motility and botulinum toxin clinics, assisting in adjustable strabismus surgeries as well as supporting surgical plans for pre-operative assessments. She has contributed to audits and research to improve patient care and provide the best possible management for her patients.
