Neuro-ophthalmology is a subspecialty of both neurology and ophthalmology. Neuro ophthalmologists specialise in vision problems that relate to the nervous system.

Such issues include vision problems due to brain injuries or diseases, such as trauma, a stroke, or infection and defects in the visual fields, involuntary spasms of the face and eyelids.  Sometimes, these issues might not be a serious cause for concern, but other times, they can lead to more serious complications, such as vision loss.

Most neuro-ophthalmologic disorders require the interaction of the neuro-ophthalmologist with other physicians, particularly general neurologists, neurosurgeons and radiologists.

We provide treatment for the below conditions:

  • Blepharospasm and other involuntary facial movements
  • Double vision
  • Eyelid abnormalities
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Nystagmus
  • Optic nerve disorders, such as optic neuritis, ischemic optic neuropathy, compressive optic neuropathies, Leber optic neuropathy
  • Orbital tumours
  • Papilledema
  • Pupillary abnormalities (e.g., anisocoria)
  • Strabismus
  • Thyroid eye disease
  • Unexplained vision loss
  • Visual field defects related to stroke, brain tumours or multiple sclerosis
