Dr. Namir Kafil-Hussain is a highly experienced consultant ophthalmic surgeon, with substantial expertise gained in a variety of senior clinical consulting roles in some of the leading specialist hospitals in the UK and Republic of Ireland, managing high quality paediatric ophthalmic services. He has extensive experience in all aspects of paediatric ophthalmic surgery including small incision cataract surgery, intraocular lens implantation, children’s eye diseases, squint surgery for both children and adults and botulinum toxin injection for treatment of squint.His expertise in treating patients with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is based on his substantial experience in screening premature babies (from as early as 23 weeks) and laser treatment (+Anti-VEGF) with excellent surgical outcomes. Dr. Namir has also published research on the prevention of ROP and treatment trends.
Since 1990, Dr. Namir has undertaken broad-based training in centres of excellence in ophthalmology, including Oxford, London and Dublin. After completing specialist training at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, he was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital, Surrey and Woking Community Hospital, in the UK.
Dr. Namir has lectured, researched and published extensively on his specialist areas of interest. He has written clinical articles in numerous respected ophthalmology journals and presented at some of the world’s most prestigious conferences in UK, USA, Ireland, France, Germany and Spain. His published research includes several original papers related to Children’s Eye Diseases, Strabismus (Squints) and Cataract surgery.
Dr. Namir holds a number of professional qualifications and memberships; he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh; Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists; and is a member of the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as British and Irish Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Association.

Dr. Luisa Sastre is a Specialist Ophthalmologist in Medical Retina and Cataract Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai in Dubai Healthcare City.Dr. Luisa holds a Spanish degree in medicine from the Universidad Autonoma Medical School in Madrid, Spain and completed her ophthalmology residency in at Hospital Universitario Gregorio Maranon Madrid, Spain. She is board certified in Intensive Care medicine and in ophthalmology. She also holds a PhD from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Organisation Leadership from ESADE Business School in Madrid, Spain.

In her career she has practiced in leading medical institutions such as Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz and Hospital Universitario El Escorial, Madrid, Spain.
She has presented various papers in national and international congresses and journals, and organised educational courses on cataract surgery and medical retina for peers and opticians.
She is a member of “Surgical Eye Expeditions International”, a nonprofit humanitarian organization, which hosts clinic sites around the world. She is also a member of Sociedad Española de Oftalmologia (SEO).
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Luisa volunteers in various charitable campaigns around the world to treat patients that suffer from cataracts, who otherwise have difficulty to medical access.

Dr. Ammar Safar

Dr. Ammar Safar is American Board Certified in Ophthalmology and is a highly experienced consultant in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. Dr. Ammar is the Medical Director of Moorfields Eye Hospitals in the UAE. He is based in Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai.
Dr. Ammar undertook his medical training in Syria before moving to the United States for post-graduate training. He specialised in Ophthalmology at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where he also served as a Chief Resident. He then acquired an additional 2-year fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Diseases & Surgery at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, USA. Dr. Ammar then went on to hold the position of Assistant and later Associate Professor and Director of Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Department of Ophthalmology, Jones Eye Institute, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, in the United States. He then relocated to the UAE where he was a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon and President of Medical Staff at a private general hospital in Dubai.
In addition to his work in private practice, Dr. Ammar has undertaken research and clinical trials in areas such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related eye diseases, and published and presented extensively. His research work has also resulted in advances in retinal vascular diseases (discovering new management options for diabetic retinopathy and vascular occlusive disorders) and in macular degeneration (new approaches for treatment of exudative macular degeneration).
Among his many honorary awards, Dr. Ammar was the inaugural recipient of The Martha Wood Bentley endowed Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas. He is a member of a number of professional associations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, European Society of Retina Specialists, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Association for Research In Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Arab-American Medical Association, Research to Prevent Blindness, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Mariya Moosajee

Dr. Mariya Moosajee is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and eminent researcher specialising in Genetic Eye Disease with a specialist interest in understanding the molecular basis of eye development and genetic eye disease, using relevant disease models, human induced pluripotent stem cell derived retinal cells and medical bioinformatics. Her current clinical focus is on developing a genomic service for children and adults affected with genetic eye disease including inherited retinal diseases and developmental eye defects.
Dr. Moosajee graduated with First Class Honours in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics in 2000, Medicine (MBBS) in 2003, and was awarded her PhD in Molecular Ophthalmology in 2009 all from Imperial College London.  She completed her NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship in 2016 and became the first Ophthalmologist to be awarded the prestigious Wellcome Trust Beit Prize Clinical Research Development Fellowship. She has won 30 international and national prizes for her research and published over 40 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Moosajee is also a Senior Lecturer at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, Moorfields Eye Hospital London, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London. She leads a research group to investigate how genes cause eye disease, develops new treatments for patients and conducts natural history studies with forthcoming clinical trials. She is also a Lecturer in Communication Skills, Embryology and Genetics for BSc, MSc and MBBS students, Imperial College

Prof. Mandeep Sagoo is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with clinical practice in the management of adult and paediatric eye tumours at Moorfields Eye Hospital, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Hospital, Harley Street and Portland Hospital, London, UK
He is also Senior Lecturer at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. Dr Sagoo graduated from the MB, PhD programme of Cambridge University, with a PhD in retinal electrophysiology at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge. He underwent Ophthalmology residency training at Oxford and at Moorfields. He trained in Ocular Oncology, as a Fulbright Scholar, under Drs Jerry and Carol Shields at Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, USA, and Medical Retina Fellowship at Moorfields hospital, before being appointed to his current position in London in 2008.
He has written 5 book chapters and over 60 academic papers, including in the journal Nature. Honours and awards include a Fulbright scholarship to the USA, John Glyn Young Fellows Prize of the Royal Society of Medicine, the Syme Medal of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Honour Award of Greek Vitreoretinal Society, the PJ Hay Medal of the North of England Ophthalmological Society. He has recently been awarded the King James IV Professorship in Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is an International Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Member of the European Society of Retina Specialists. He was also elected to membership of the Macula Society, Council Membership of Oxford Ophthalmological Congress and served as Honorary Secretary of the International Society of Ocular Oncology.

Dr. Qasiem Nasser

Dr. Nasser has dual Fellowship training in Oculoplastic Surgery as well as Cornea, Cataract and Anterior Segment Surgery. His area of expertise is in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery which includes surgery on the eyelids, the orbit, and the tear drainage system, for adults and children. In addition, he is also a specialist in Laser Assisted Cataract and Refractive Surgery including LASIK, LASEK, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) and Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL) for Keratoconous.
Dr. Nasser grew up in Amman, Jordan. He attended medical school at The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland after which he completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at The Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin. He then moved to the United States where he completed a 2-year Ophthalmic Plastic and Orbital Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and Texas Oculoplastic Consultants in Austin. Dr. Nasser then persuaded another Fellowship in Cornea, Cataract and Anterior Segment Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
He is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.
Dr. Nasser has been an active researcher and has published many manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He has given lectures at national and international meetings including The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology and World Ophthalmology Congress.

Dr. Muralidharan Upendran

Dr. Upendran obtained his medical degree and a basic ophthalmology degree in India. He then moved to the UK where he received further higher specialty training in Ophthalmology in Belfast before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London. He received his initial Vitreo-Retinal surgical training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. He then received his fellowship training in Vitreo-Retinal surgery at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre, UK. He has recently worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in retinal disease at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Macular Service in Belfast.
Dr. Upendran has an interest in research and teaching. He has a portfolio of published research and has delivered scientific presentations to his peers. He has been involved in teaching programs for medical students. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists London and a Life member of the All India Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. Osama Giledi

Associate Professor of Ophthalmology (Adjunct) Dr Osama Giledi is a highly experienced consultant ophthalmologist who specialises in Cornea, Anterior Segment, Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is also skilled in managing ocular surface problems including severe dry eye and Stem cell deficiency.  He performs small incision phacoemulsification for his cataract surgery and is experienced in using toric and multifocal premium intraocular lenses. Dr Giledi expertise in managing complex corneal conditions includes all types of modern corneal graft procedures, such as DALK and DSAEK. He has performed more than 23,000 refractive surgeries including Lasik, LASEK, Intralase LASIK and Trans PRK, as well as phakic IOLs. He delivers the latest treatment for keratoconus including Intracorneal ring segments, corneal cross-linking and complex laser treatment.
Dr Giledi graduated from Libya and completed his ophthalmic training in the UK, attaining a Fellowship in Ophthalmology from The Royal College of Edinburgh in 1996. He completed 2 years of higher subspecialty training fellowship on the anterior segment, Cornea and refractive surgery on 2003 at the prestigeous Corneoplastic Unit and Eye Bank at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. Dr. Salvetti studied medicine and ophthalmology in her native Italy prior to undertaking a fellowship at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. She was a Retina Fellow at the Schepens Eye Research Institute & Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School in Boston, before taking up a position as a General Ophthalmologist & Medical Retina Specialist and neurophthalmology physician in France; she was then appointed Medical Director of the Centro Oculistico Bergamasco in Italy.
Dr. Salvetti has undertaken a significant amount of published research work and presentations in her specialist areas and is a member of the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Dr. Mohammed Sohaib Mustafa

He is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London and has gained fellowships from the European and United Kingdom boards in Ophthalmology.
His main research interests include compliance and the safety of glaucoma medications, efficacy and safety outcomes of the latest surgical techniques in glaucoma and cataract, including microdrainage devices, and simulation teaching of ocular ultrasound. He has broad experience in the diagnosis and management of complex inflammatory eye diseases, including the use of immunosuppression, as well as in treating retinal disease. Dr Gurbaxani is also skilled in managing complex cataract surgery associated with these diseases.
Dr. Gurbaxani trained in ophthalmology in Oxford and London, working at The Oxford Eye Hospital in Oxford, Kings College Hospital, St. Thomas’ Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He has worked at the prestigious Medical Eye Unit in London as well as completing a Uveitis Fellowship and Medical Retina Fellowship at Moorfields London and the Sydney Eye Hospital in Australia, before returning to Moorfields London as a locum consultant.
Dr Gurbaxani is experienced in initiating research projects and running clinical trials, and has regularly published and presented papers at national and international conferences.
