Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon (Locum)
Dr. Hassan Aziz is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in treating vitreoretinal conditions requiring surgical intervention for eye problems involving the retina, macula, and vitreous fluid. These include retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane and complications related to diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Aziz undertook his basic medical training at Kaunas Medical University in Lithuania and continued with a focus on ophthalmology in the USA, at the University of Miami. He then held a number of fellowships in the US, in Ocular Oncology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ocular Oncology & Vitreoretinal Research at Keck School of Medicine, and Surgical Vitreoretinal at the University of British Columbia.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Aziz has supported Unite for Sight in Ghana, Africa,
helping to organise and coordinate community-based outreach programs to rural villages and refugee camps.
He has published and presented extensively on his special areas of interest, including peer reviewed scientific publications. Dr. Aziz holds a number of professional members including The American Board of Ophthalmology; American Society of Retina Specialists; International Society of Ocular Oncology; College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
